Dashpoint Name: Clarendon in the Snow

I first filed the short report back at the beginning of this month after finding the location on a day off, but man o man has the month been busy. Health issues, scout leadership training issues, and my annual conference all rolled into one month (and my 6th anniversary of GPS related games) - I'm just NOW checking my Geodashing messages.

The report is not going to be all that telling. Clarendon Hills is a stop on the Metra Rail station from the Burlington-Northern-Santa Fe line that heads to the western suburbs of Chicago. The point was reached during a pretty heavy snow fall - about 31°F/-1°C. Powell Street, where the point lies, is a fairly short N/S street between Eastern and Sheridan, and it lies parallel to Route 83 - the Kingery Highway.

The point is in a pretty nice neighborhood of large homes on small lots, and it rests right on the easement - the property in between the sidewalk and the road - outside a white two-story house. The house also had what looked like an atrium or other addition on the southwest corner. The floor level of this addition was below ground level and the roof line was parallel to the ground and higher than 2 meters off the ground, which gave it an odd look.

Hopefully, I can be more prompt with my full reports. But as I said, this has been a crazy month.

Since this is another "remote control" dashpoint from my ever indulgent in-laws in Tennessee, I'll claim 0 points for them and me. I didn't visit it, and they're not dashers. I can tell from the maps and their description though that they got within 71 meters of the location by traveling on the road. Here's the exchange of e-mails…

Feb 27 - From Markwell to Vegebuddy

I always scope out to see if any of the random points that come out each month land on Signal Mountain. Well, there's one on Signal Mountain, and it's less than 2 miles from your house.

IF YOU HAVE TIME, and if you're so inclined, some time in March (not until March 1), I'd love it if you hopped over and described what was there (maybe even a picture).

If you take 127 away from downtown Signal Mt and out past Waycrazy's, you pass County Line Road. The third road on the left after County Line is Grayson. Driving down Grayson and back would get you within the 100 meters required to "score". Take a look at the attached maps.

If you don't get to it - no biggie. Just thought it might be fun to report what's at a random point so close to your house.

Mar 27 - From Vegebuddy to Markwell

...we drove out past County Line Road, and hung a left onto Grayson. Followed it all the way to the end. Thought you might enjoy a bit of the scenery we viewed. What we didn't take pictures of were the cages upon cages of roosters.
