Toy Stash by Bryan (Cache Archived)
Terrain:
I had just decided to buy my GPS for myself for my birthday (March 13). I had bought the Little Yellow Garmin ETrex on the Saturday (March 10) and tried my first cache on Sunday with my 5 year old son, Drew. Evidently, the coordinates were off, as we kept hovering around a tree in the right grove, but in the wrong spot. Slightly dejected, I vowed I would return.

Terrain:

This one has a fudge factor. I had taken the day off to get my driver's license renewed, which I did so with time to spare before I needed to pick up the two youngsters - so I ventured off. I found it with very little trouble and did no trading, as I knew I would be coming back with the boys. I did so on March 18, coming back with the wife and both boys.

Terrain:

Well, March 24 was the "official" day I found this cache, but not the actual. I was completely hooked. Herrick Lake Stash was literally 0.8 miles from my office and I HAD to get it. I went out on Tuesday, March 20 during my lunch hour in the pouring rain and walked the path right to the cache, making it back with time to spare on my lunch hour. Very cool placement, but it would go the way of several caches with our run-in with the DuPage County Forest Preserve District. I didn't log this cache until I returned with my son during a 45°F hike on March 24. THAT hike was the beginning of the self-imposed rule: No caches below 50°F.
